We Picked, We Packed, We Played!
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be working with a company that recognizes and rewards their consultants so well – and, man, am I glad I took the leap and became an Independent Scentsy Consultant on June 20, 2012!
I was blessed enough to earn this year’s Scentsy Family Incentive trip for both myself AND my husband, so we were able to go on an all-expense paid week-long trip to Hawaii – something we would have NEVER been able to do if it weren’t for Scentsy! PLUS, I also earned the Exclusive Activity for both of us, which was a swim with Dolphins at the Sea Life Park. We were offered a payout for the Dolphins, so we took that option and booked our own awesome ocean snorkeling adventure! Here’s a taste of what we were able to do experience on our first Scentsy Family Incentive Trip, and what YOU have to look forward to when you join my team and get a running start at the upcoming Incentive Trip that will be announced this week at Scentsy Family Reunion 2013 in Indianapolis!

We woke up in the early hours of the morning, not that I slept longer than 3 hours anyway, to get started on our long journey! Our first flight flew out of Pocatello at 6:50am, and we landed in Salt Lake City only about 45 minutes later.
Then, excitement and thumb twiddling began. Our layover in Salt Lake City was over 4 hours, so we took time to eat breakfast, catch up on emails, and it was finally time to board our plane!
We flew out of Salt Lake City at 11:40am on our last flight of the day that would take over 6 hours! On the airplane, we were able to catch a few movies that we hadn’t seen yet – but no sleep! I don’t know about you, but sleep just isn’t my thing on airplanes – especially when I’m excited about going to HAWAII!!!
Once we landed in Hawaii (at 2:30pm local time), we were immediately in paradise! Right after deplaning, all of the Scentsy Family Consultants on our flight were greeted with leis and we met in a group to head down to pick up our luggage – then board the bus to our hotel!
The bus ride to the hotel was filled with everyone getting to know each other and trying to pry information from Ty Compton (VP of Grace Adele) and Rob Burton (VP of the Scentsy Family Store). I mean, we would be CRAZY to not try and get new product information directly from the source, right?! We were informed that there would be a huge announcement on Monday at the welcome breakfast – so everyone was buzzing with excitement!
Once we arrived at the hotel, the Sheraton Waikiki, it was time to check-in and head to our rooms! The check-in line seemed like it took forever to get through – but that could have something to do with the fact that we had all come from the plane wearing yoga pants and jackets, so of course we were dying in the Hawaii heat and humidity!
We got our room keys and headed up to room 1961. Our room had a partial-ocean view, which was perfectly fine with me – we got the best of both worlds! To one side, we could see the beautiful mountains and rain forest, and to the other side we could see the gorgeous ocean, waves, and sand! But, our running around wasn’t done yet! Now we headed down to the Scentsy check-in, where we were greeted with name tags, t-shirts, and even backpacks to use during our stay. Scentsy goes ALL OUT to treat you like royalty when you earn an Incentive Trip!
The rest of our day was spent walking along the beach for the first time ever, dipping our toes in the ocean, and taking in all of the beauty Hawaii has to offer!

Today we woke up early to get ready for the huge Welcome Breakfast – with all 900 trip attendees in one room, eating a great breakfast, and hearing announcements from Heidi & Orville Thompson (Scentsy President and CEO, respectively)! What an amazing feeling to know that all of the consultants in the meeting room had EARNED their way to Hawaii through Scentsy!
Pretty soon, Heidi & Orville recognized first-time Incentive Trip winners by gifting us with awesome Pick.Pack.Play Pillowcases! Then, others were recognized for earning the most points toward their trip. Finally, it was time for the BIG announcement!
A slideshow appeared on the projector screens – showing the all new Scentsy Custom Gift Bundles! The crowd immediately applauded at this huge business opportunity that was being shared with us. Ordering for Custom Gift Bundles starts on August 1st, 2013, and I already know this will be a huge selling product for Scentsy Fragrance!
After spending time watching the entire slideshow, visiting with friends, and finishing our breakfast – it was time to enjoy the day! My husband and I walked around through all of the shops, restaurants, and the beach – I never wanted to go back to the hotel room!
When we did get back to the hotel room, there were surprises waiting for us! Scentsy beach towels AND Layers Sunscreen & Lip Balm! Can you believe that while you are out enjoying your day, Scentsy makes it a point to make sure you come “home” to something extra special?!

This was THE DAY I was most looking forward to! At 9:20am we were picked up by Dolphins & You, an amazing snorkeling company! They drove us for about an hour to a Boat Marina, where we went straight to Hula Dancing Lessons! Our entire group (consisting of a few more couples from Scentsy, as well as some other people who booked the tour) learned how to Hula for about 40 minutes while we were waiting for the boat to come to dock! This was a riot – something I would recommend to ANYONE who travels to Hawaii…you have GOT to take a Hula lesson!
Once our boat was back in the Marina, we headed out to get on board. The entire tour staff was incredibly friendly, and always helpful. After everyone had boarded, the crew introduced themselves and broke the ice by dancing to some of their favorite “Boat Music”! Think of it as a party on a boat!
And off we went! For almost 40 minutes we drive to the Northwest point of Oahu, where the captain and tour staff saw a pod of dolphins – so it was into the ocean we went! Everyone jumped off of the boat (we put on our snorkeling gear as the boat was taking us to the dolphins), and swam frantically to see Dolphins in the wild! We were able to see a couple pods of Dolphins – one swam in front of us, the other below us. Talk about an amazing feeling, knowing that these beautiful creatures were in their natural habitat and just having a good old time swimming around!
Once the Dolphins swam out of sight, it was time to board the boat once again and head to Mahaka Beach to swim with Sea Turtles! I instantly fell in love with these majestic, beautiful creatures as soon as we jumped back into the ocean and immediately found a group of Sea Turtles just hanging out! These guys aren’t spooked by people swimming…at all! In fact, there were quite a few times when we had to swim out of the way as the Turtles came up to surface for air….had we not moved, they would have ran right into us!
I never wanted my time swimming with the turtles to end, but, after almost an hour, we headed back to the boat. Once back on the boat, we all had great barbecued burgers that the captain cooked while we were out swimming! The best part about the burgers? The buns were PURPLE!
After a long day on the ocean, we headed back to the Marina, and onto the bus to head back to our hotel. Of course, this wasn’t the end of the fun for the day….next we had to get showered, cleaned up, and head down to the Beach Themed Dinner with all of the awesome Scentsy Family! Scentsy treated us to a huge Hawaiian dinner at the Pink Lady Hotel, complete with a band, beach decorations, and beautiful lights!
I was stuffed full by the time we were done with the dinner, so my hubby and I headed down to the shopping district to find out how much the tattoo I wanted to get would be. Unfortunately, the prices were outrageous compared to what I would pay back home in Idaho, so I opted to wait until later this summer to get my Hawaii tattoo! That’s okay though, just meant more spending money for Hawaii – right!?
When we returned to our hotel room for the night, a second Room Drop was there from Scentsy! This time, we received awesome water bottles and chocolate covered Macadamia nuts! Then, it was time to catch a few zzzz’s before getting up and starting our next day full of excitement!

Crazy to think that today was the half-way point of our trip! This is the day Scentsy scheduled our optional activity of the Atlantis Submarine Dive, so we woke up and headed over to Cheeseburger to have a great breakfast before going on our Submarine excursion! If you are ever around a Cheeseburger, go there for breakfast! I had an AMAZING breakfast burrito, plus, the best Mai Tai ever! It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, when it’s 8am in Hawaii, right!?
After I gorged myself on the scrumptious breakfast, we headed back to the hotel and to the loading area to meet up with the rest of the Scentsy Family Consultants and guests who would be going on the Submarine.
Once everyone was together, the bus drove us to the pier where Atlantis Submarines loaded us onto a huge boat – to take us to the Submarine dive locations! After a quick boat ride, we made it out to the dive location! The Subs surface, the boat meets up with them, and we climbed down the vertical ladder into our Sub!
Then, the adventure began. We went down a little more than 100 ft below the surface, and the captain drove us past a few sites where artificial reefs had been placed. We were able to see many types of tropical fish and even a Sea Turtle who decided to take a rest on one of the artificial reefs!
As much as I enjoyed the Submarine Dive, after coming back out of the water and onto the boat, I started to get a horrible headache. I’m pretty sure my head didn’t like the pressure changes – so next time I’ll stick to snorkeling and scuba diving! 😉
Now it was time to head back to the hotel on the buses, and on to the rest of the day. We took the time to do a little bit of souvenir shopping.
Before we knew it, the sun was starting to set. We made our way down to a pier and captured beautiful photos as the sun sank into the ocean for the night. What an amazing sight to see, I never wanted it to end! Of course, all good things come to an end, so we headed down to a beer garden to grab a quick drink and bite to eat with my friend and fellow Consultant, Crystal, and her husband.
We had a great time laughing and telling stories, while getting to know more about each other – it was a great night!
When we returned to our room this time, we were greeted with caramel filled chocolates in a box created especially for the Hawaii Pick.Pack.Play 2013 trip! Scentsy seriously never stops surprising us!

Woke up feeling AMAZING! I am so blessed to be able to do something that I love, with a Company that cares about me! Today was my 1 Year Anniversary (Scentiversary as well call it) with Scentsy! And, I got to celebrate by going to a huge Luau with all of my Scentsy Family!!!
We took this morning slow and just relaxed, since the buses for the Luau were scheduled to leave at 3:00pm, and we wouldn’t get back to the hotel until close to 10:30pm! We grabbed a quick bite to eat, and walked around again (I am pretty sure I walked 500 miles while in Hawaii haha) to make sure there wasn’t anything we needed to get before the Luau.
I had planned on wearing my black and white polka dot soda dress for the Luau, but the humidity was making that sound like a death trap – so I opted for a H&M dress made with lighter fabric, that way I wouldn’t overheat! After failing miserably at trying to get my hair to curl (humidity wasn’t helping!), my awesome friend Crystal curled it for me, and let me borrow a beautiful flower for my hair!
Getting on the bus to go to the Luau was insane! Can you imagine 900 people in line waiting for buses to transport you 45 minutes? It was probably a sight to see!
Once we arrived at the Paradise Cove Luau, we started heading in and the rain also started! Well, so much for curled hair, right? haha
Luckily, the rain didn’t last very long, so we were able to enjoy our time before the show began. There were booths set up with Hawaiian products for sale. I had been looking for a carved wooden turtle all week, and found the PERFECT one at a booth! We had the artist also carve “Amber
Then, there were also Polynesian artists giving temporary tattoos – so of course I got in line! I bet you can’t guess what kind of tattoo I requested…. Sea Turtle! The Sea Turtle that my artist drew was perfect, and I’m looking forward to turning it into a REAL tattoo sometime soon!
We heard the conch shell, which meant festivities were starting. The first festivity was a Hula lesson, but since we had already taken a Hula lesson earlier in the week, we opted to keep walking around through the booths. Next, one of the villagers climbed a tall palm tree and showered all of us with flowers! I was able to get one of the flowers and put it behind my left ear! (Flower behind your left ear means you are taken and happy; Flower behind your right ear means you are single and available.)
The next festivity involved two groups of Scentsy Consultant’s husbands doing Hula dancing and making us all laugh!!!
Then, it was time to head to our seats and get ready for the big Luau show! Once we were seated, a great tribute to Heidi’s step-father, Fred, who passed away in December 2012. What a beautiful tribute to an amazing man – a foundation in Scentsy! We all wiped away tears as Fred’s family paid tribute and a song was sung in his honor.
At this time, food was ready. Everyone headed over to the tables where we were able to serve up our plates and head back to our seats. Tons of food was provided, and everyone was able to eat as much as they wanted.
Let the Luau begin! The Hula dancers during dinner were AMAZING, showing all sorts of different Hula dances – including the Wedding Hula AND, everyone’s favorite, FIRE!!!
Looks like fun, right? It sure was! Once the Hula show and Luau concluded, we headed over to the photo tables to pick up the photo that Paradise Cove took of my husband and I with a couple of the cast members when we arrived. Of course, I had to have this great memory!
Then, I wanted to thank Heidi and Orville for the amazing week they had provided to all of us – and especially thank them because today was my 1 Year Anniversary! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be in Hawaii with Scentsy exactly 1 year from starting my Scentsy journey and becoming a consultant!
Heidi and Orville are such great people, and it was great to be able to see them again – last time I had been able to see them was in Salt Lake City at Spring Sprint 2013. My husband had never met them, either, so it was nice to be able to introduce him to this amazing couple who own such an amazing company that has done so much for our family. (We did meet Leon, Orville’s dad, earlier in the day – he’s sure a hoot!)
Before we knew it, the time was getting late and we needed to book it to the buses before we were left at Paradise Cove! Luckily, we got on the very last bus with the best people to ride home with! Shout out to all of the Scentsy Family Home Office staff and VP’s who were in the “party bus” on the way back to the hotel!
As if today wasn’t already amazing, we returned to our hotel room to find a card from Heidi & Orville with a certificate to redeem for a free photo memory book – so we can always remember our amazing time in Hawaii! I’ll be putting this certificate to good use here soon! Then, it was lights out!

Sad day! Today was the day we would be flying out of Honolulu back to Idaho! But, instead of just wasting the day away, we booked a tour of Honolulu and Pearl Harbor! So, we grabbed a quick breakfast, packed up all of our suitcases, checked out of the hotel, stored our suitcases in safe keeping with Scentsy, and headed to the bus!
The very first thing our driver did was take us to Pearl Harbor so he could pick up our Arizona Memorial tickets. These tickets are limited and have a certain time on them that we would need to board the Navy transport to the Arizona Memorial. Our tour time ended up being 12:45pm, so our driver took us for the rest of the Honolulu tour first! We were able to drive through the Punchbowl Cemetery where there was a military funeral service taking place – talk about touching moment! And we also drove through Honolulu as the driver pointed out monuments and important places. We arrived back at Pearl Harbor about an hour before our tour started, so my husband and I grabbed some lunch at the hot dog and nacho stand, walked through the gift shops, took a few photo opportunities, and headed to the tour theatre where the tour would start.
A short film showing the history of Pearl Harbor was played in the theater, after which the doors opened and we were able to board the Navy transport. A quick boat ride and we were at the Arizona Memorial. This was a very somber and touching place to be – watching the “tears” from the Arizona appear on the water, reading the names of all Military Service members who lay entombed, and knowing what happened in this very spot so many years ago.
We were only able to stay on the memorial for about 10 minutes, before the Navy transport was back with a new tour group and it was time for us to head back to the shore and back to our bus.
With only a couple short hours before our transport to take us to the airport would arrive, we headed out to find a good lunch as soon as we arrived back at the hotel. This time, we chose to eat at Tiki’s Bar & Grill – some amazing food and great drinks! (Hey, it was Happy Hour, perfect timing!) A few drinks, and a plate full of barbecue ribs later, we headed to the hotel to grab our luggage and get on the bus to take us to Honolulu Airport.
Things started to hit home when we arrived at the airport and checked our luggage – I didn’t WANT to go home! Couldn’t we just stay for ONE MORE WEEK?! Of course, I knew we couldn’t – but we are already planning to save up and return to Hawaii for our 10-Year Wedding Anniversary in 2017!
Our flight from Honolulu to Seattle was long and boring – I managed to catch a few winks of sleep while we were in the air! When I finally woke up, my husband told me we would be in Seattle in 30 minutes, I didn’t believe him at first! I had never been to Seattle – did you know they have subway train under the airport to get from one gate to another?! It was crazy!
Then, we were in Seattle for just about an hour before boarding our next plane to Salt Lake City. This flight was beautiful, and we flew right over Mount St. Helens – gorgeous!
It wasn’t long (only about an hour and 30 minutes) before we arrived in Salt Lake City and we had to RUN to catch our next flight that boarded in 5 minutes! I have never had to run through an airport to catch a plane before – talk about stressful!
Luckily, we made it to the plane and we were able to board even though they had overbooked the flight and were asking people to take later flights. This momma was TIRED and I had been up for almost 24 hours – there was no way I was going to wait any longer to get home and see my beautiful little girl who I had been away from for a week!
FINALLY, we arrived back home in Pocatello at noon on Saturday, June 22nd, 2013. Yep, talk about a LONG time to travel! Although, flying on these prop planes is definitely not my favorite thing to do – I probably would have lost my lunch if I had eaten beforehand!
It was SO CUTE when my husband and I walked into the airport – our daughter was standing right there holding a sign she made (with grandma’s help) that said “Welcome home, Mommy & Daddy!” This was the first time we had ever been away from her, so it was great to see her as soon as we landed!
And that, my friends, is what an AMAZING week full of Scentsy Incentive Trip fun is like! I want YOU to join us next year – and you CAN, just by joining my team and working your business!
